A Lake Cabin Made for Gathering
Some homes invite you to slow down the moment you arrive, and this little lake cabin was already full of that kind of charm. Instead of tearing it down, the homeowners chose to renovate and breathe new life into the space—preserving the character of the cabin while making it better suited for gathering with friends and family.
One challenge quickly became clear: the home sits right on the water, leaving limited room for outdoor living along the lakeside. That meant the driveway side of the property had to do the heavy lifting. Our job was to transform that overlooked area into an inviting outdoor extension of the home.
Through creative design and careful use of elevation, we turned a tricky slope into an opportunity. Layered hardscape and planting areas help the space feel intentional while making it easier to move through and enjoy. What once felt like leftover space now serves as a welcoming place to relax, entertain, and spend time together outdoors.
The planting design adds another layer of magic. Seasonal flowers and pollinator-friendly plants bring constant movement and color to the landscape, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the warmer months.
