Outdoors Designed for Auburn Football Saturdays

Football season has a way of turning everyone into a host.

Family comes over before the game. Afternoon tailgates with neighbors turn into late-night chats after the game. And before long, that casual “come over Saturday” invitation to friends becomes a tradition.

The outdoor spaces that handle football Saturdays best tend to have something in common: they make hosting feel easy. There’s shade for a warm afternoon kickoff, plenty of comfortable spots to watch the game, and a place at the grill that keeps the cook in the middle of the action.

None of that happens by accident.

In our latest blog post, we’re looking at how thoughtful landscape design can make your outdoor space work beautifully for football Saturdays – and all the gatherings that happen long after the final whistle.

The Same House, Made New Again: A Landscape Renovation in Auburn, AL

When a client chooses to renovate an older home instead of starting over, the outdoor space has to measure up to that decision.

That was the challenge on this recent Auburn project. The site brought two problems worth solving: a narrow street that turned guest parking into a real headache for the family and their neighbors, and a piece of the home’s original driveway brick — full of decades of color and wear — that felt too good to throw away.

The solutions we landed on solved both. And walking the finished property today, you’d never guess either one was new.

A Tailgate Dip Worth Gathering Around

Around here, football season calls for a little extra orange – and this pimento cheese delivers.

This warm pimento cheese dip brings the right color to an Auburn Saturday, along with everything you want in a tailgate recipe: it’s easy to make ahead, simple to serve, and exactly the kind of thing people gather around between kickoff predictions and play-by-play commentary.

You’ll Need:

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 jar (4 oz.) diced pimentos, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • A few dashes of hot sauce
  • Crackers, toasted baguette slices, or sturdy chips for serving

Mix the cream cheese, cheddar, Monterey Jack, pimentos, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and hot sauce until combined. Spoon into a small baking dish and bake at 375°F for about 20 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and just beginning to brown around the edges.

Serve it warm and let everybody dig in.

Want to turn up the heat? Add chopped pickled jalapeños before baking or top it with crumbled bacon just before serving.
